Bringing my netting out in public usually makes me feel sad. Why?
If I work on a knitting or crocheting project, people will ask me what I’m making. Now and then I meet a fellow crafter who recognizes and understands my craft. We can have a bit of a chat about knitting or crocheting, and how fun yarn is.
If I pull out a netting project, the question changes – What am I doing? I’ve yet to meet someone who sees the mesh stick and shuttle full of thread, who will then sit down and talk about how fun netting is. It feels like a dying art – and a pretty neat one.
